Art Gallery

The Breezeway Art Gallery in Wilsonville (between Brantford and Waterford, Ontario, Canada) continues to support and promote local artistic talent. For its Spring 2006 Grand Opening, the Breezeway was proud to exhibit the extremely talented Michelle Jefferies.

Michelle is truly a ‘local’ talent, having been born and raised on a small country farm in rural Waterford and educated in Norfolk County, but, as with all true artists, her paintings transcend locality. Very early in public school, Michelle was identified by her teacher as having an exceptional talent. Mainly self-taught, she learned her craft from family members and friends but pursued her passion in private as she dealt with the demands of raising her own family. It has been only in the past few years that Michelle has ‘come out’ as an artist, and her works have received much critical acclaim.

Michelle works mainly with acrylics and her canvases range from small to medium size. Her approach to her art is best expressed by Michelle herself when she writes, “By choosing familiar compositions, using colour theory, layering, use of light and shadow, I strive to stimulate the onlooker’s senses and emotions. My pallet is usually of neutral tones, exploring the wonderment of the beauty of all colours and tone in nature. Creating beauty from the ordinary causes the excitement and intensity that keeps me at my easel for hours…”.
